MSD Research Students Association
MSD Research Students Association is the Graduate Students Association (GSA) affiliated, independantly run group of the graduate research cohort of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning.
The MSD Research Students Association represent the interests of graduate research candidates in the Faculty to foster a research culture within the student body and to offer peer support. Just as importantly, the group aims to organise and host events that add to graduate student life in the Faculty.
A message from the President
The MSD Research Students Association (MSD RSA) is a group of doctoral and MPhil students within the Melbourne School of Design at the University of Melbourne. The MSD RSA provides a space for interaction between researchers to share experiences and interchange knowledge in the diverse fields of our faculty (architecture, building, planning). The spaces for dialogue are the research assemblies and monthly meetings, where those interested to learn from other researchers regarding research methods, resources, field trips and publication experiences, can join and participate in the discussion. The MSD RSA also organizes social events for our members such as pot luck dinners, movie nights and game nights. The MSD RSA serves to represent the interests of graduate researchers and is coordinated by a committee, with a President, Vice Present, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Conveners and Research representatives.
This year the MSD RSA organized the first MSD Research Assembly with participants from our faculty and invited critics that offered their insights to the participants and generated a wider discussion on topics related to our faculty work. At the end of the year the MSD RSA will organize a larger research assembly where we hope to gather participants from all departments and generate an interesting space for discussion and critical analysis. Also the MSD RSA is in the process of publishing a new edition of OCULUS which will showcase the work of the doctoral candidates and MPhil students. It will be published to coincide with the end of the year Research Assembly. We continue to receive the kind support of the Graduate Student Association and the MSD Research Department to help run our activities.
